What to Expect

You will meet One of our doctors as well as other members of the team during your first appointment, which typically lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. SouthEnd Dentistry embraces the comprehensive dental philosophy meaning we will come up with a plan that will treat oral conditions as well as empower you to prevent them from occurring in the future. This takes time but is an important investment in making sure we plan everything that will aid you in achieving optimal oral health.

Your new patient appointment will entail a variety of diagnostic records being taken. These include, x-rays, photos, and periodontal readings (gum measurements). Though you may have taken x-rays at a previous dental office, we will need to take our own x-rays at SouthEnd Dentistry. In order to provide the most accurate diagnosis, Our doctors must use x-rays taken the day he sees you. It is with our x-ray software that he is able to diagnose items that are not apparent on x-rays emailed or printed from another office. Your diagnosis at SouthEnd Dentistry should not be dependant upon the x-ray technique used at another dental office for which we have no control. We do want to assure you that our digital x-rays offer the minimal amount of radiation exposure to you due to SouthEnd Dentistry having the latest x-ray technology and the protective techniques used here as well.

Periodontal readings are extremely important to coming up with your optimal health plan. These readings enable our hygienist to plan the appropriate type of periodontal treatment (cleaning) to be delivered at your appointments. Taking measurements beforehand ensures that we can set aside the appropriate amount of time for periodontal treatment during your next appointment as it is very tricky to predict a patient’s periodontal status over the phone. There are some instances when your periodontal treatment can be done the same day.

Our goal is to educate you on your oral health and what we can do to help. This education will take place through a series of videos and reviewing x-rays and photos. We want to make sure we can answer all of your questions and you are fully informed.

Being well-prepared for your appointment will ensure that the doctor has all of the needed information to provide the best possible care for you. It also will help relieve any unnecessary anxiety you may be feeling. Take some time to review our About page and familiarize yourself with our professionals. It is very important that you fill out the patient forms prior to coming in for your dental appointment. For those patients with dental insurance: make sure to give us your most updated insurance information prior to your appointment and bring your insurance card with you.

We look forward to your first visit!
