How Aligners Work

When you make your first appointment for aligners, Dr. Picot will take a digital impression or scan of your smile. Depending on the kind of aligner is recommended, this model will be rendered by a computer in our office or off-site. The model will be used to create a comprehensive set of aligners to be used over a longer period of time.

Once you receive your aligners, you’ll be expected to wear them for most of the day and make regular visits to our office so Dr. Picot can track your progress. As teeth move towards where your treatment plan intends, you will progress to new aligner sets. Once your teeth reach the desired position, you’ll be fitted with a retainer to ensure your newly straightened smile stays right where it should be.

For certain patients, we may recommend Clear Correct as an alternative. Similar to Invisalign, Clear Correct offers discrete treatment with clear, plastic aligners. And it’s a totally removeable system, so you can maintain great oral hygiene.
